2019 vs 2018 - Deal Volume Falls Off
With the holiday season starting now, we
can tell you that 2019 will fall short of 2018 deal volumes for individual assets and especially entity-level buyers.
Individual asset transactions will peak at about $340 billion this year compared to $400 billion last year. And entity-level deals will total just about $27 billion versus nearly $74 billion in 2018, off about 64 percent year over year. Last year these entity M&A-type transactions accounted for 13 percent of all deal activity. They charted just 2 percent this year.
Meanwhile, portfolio deals will tie the 2018 level at approximately $115 billion.
